My IOC is tomorrow. I’ve been reviewing the Elizabeth Bishops poems, along with The Great Gatsby and Running in the Family pretty much all afternoon, and I still don’t feel prepared. The thing is, I went above and beyond on every English assignment this semester because these works genuinely interested me, yet I still feel like I need more time to prepare myself. I think it’s because I freeze up sometimes when I’m put on the spot. If I was given a series of questions to answer in writing, I think I’d do really well, but since I have to speak and think quickly on my feet and be eloquent and deep while still recognizing the technical choices of the writers - that’s why I’m worried. Writing > speaking any day! Except tomorrow, because I don’t have that option. Anyway, wish me luck!!
